Chilean Patagonia – Hike to the End of the World

The Torres del Paine National Park in Chile is testimony to the proverbial “No pains No gains” – No camera can capture the beauty of this region, and yet, to get there is a long way from home! Chilean Patagonia is undoubtedly one of the prettiest regions on Earth – a wholesome compendium of snow-capped Andes, crystal lakes, glaciers and llamas! So get your rucksacks, and leave your mobile phone’s behind, and get up close to nature in what will be one of your most memorable trips

  • Start the trip in Santiago, one of the buzzing cities of South America – and explore its rich culture, colonial history, and modern outlook
  • Continue south to the very “sporty” city of Pucon, where we will do a couple of “teaser” hikes, including a volcano climb
  • Fly down to the city of Punta Arenas, truly the end of the World – acclimatize yourself to the strong sun and explore some of the city’s unique offerings including a Magellenic penguin colony on the Magdelena island with thousands of penguins from up close
  • The finale: Spend 7 days hiking in the wilderness of the Torres del Paine National park –This one will test your endurance but will be one of the prettiest hikes you have ever done – we guarantee it.

  • The name “Patagonia” comes from the character “Patagon” in a Spanish novel –and was given by the Spanish when they arrived there – looking at how tall and strong the native Tehuelche people were.
  • Patagonia has more than 30 National Parks – the Chilean Patagonia also has 5,000 rivers
  • Chile has one of the longest coastlines in the world (4500 km), but is only 1750 km wide – in this land there are over 1,500 volcanoes, of which around 500 are active
  • Chile has one of the longest recorded dry spells in the Atacama Desert where it did not rain for 40 years

Being in Southern Hemisphere – Chilean summer is in the months of October – February, which is the best time to explore the park.
