Trip Highlights

Visit the Namib Nauklauft National Park to witness the amazing landscapes of Sossusvlei, dotted with ancient Camel Thorn trees and Deadvlei with lifeless trees standing stark against the tall orange sand dunes

Head inland to the Tsiseb Conservancy and the Brandberg, a mountainous granite outcrop. The Tsisab Ravine at the foot of the mountain contains more than 1000 rock shelters and some 45,000 rock paintings including the famous “White Lady”.

Move on to the “Great White Place” in Etosha with natural springs and waterholes around the edges providing life-giving water that sustains the wildlife in this otherwise arid area

Driving north east, enter the Zambezi Region, formally known as the Caprivi Strip. From the banks of the Kavango River, explore the Elephants coated in the white salt dust from the pan in Mahango Game Reserve. Get a glimpse of the nocturnal animals that come to drink, including the rare black rhino, lion and possibly leopard

Spot some big game including lions and buffalo in Chobe National park. Explore the Chobe River by boat and get close to the elephants as they quench their thirst

Walk to the very edge of the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls and marvel at the lush rainforest that surrounds it

When to Travel : April and especially May are often lovely months in Namibia. Increasingly dry, with a real freshness in the air, and much greenery in the landscape; at this time the air is clear and largely free from dust.

From June to August Namibia cools down and dries out more; nights can become cold, dropping below freezing in some desert areas. As the landscape dries so the game in the north of the country gravitates more to waterholes, and is more easily seen by visitors.

By September and October it warms up again; game-viewing in most areas is at its best, although there’s often a lot of dust around and the vegetation has lost its vibrancy.

Game viewing is at its peak during the dry winter months of May to October when animals are concentrated in ever increasing numbers at water sources as the dry season wears on. Many experts regard the cooler months of June to August as the best time of year for a Botswana safari – the game viewing is consistently excellent, there’s virtually no rain and the risk of malaria is at its lowest.
