Slovenia - The Undiscovered Land

Standing at the cross roads between Western and Eastern Europe, this tiny country offers phenomenal geographical diversity – from the Alps in the North to the Adriatic coastline on the west, the Krast plateau toward the south and flat Plannonian plains in the East. And among these dominating natural borders are scattered numerous medieval towns with cobblestone streets, cathedrals with thousand year old paintings, vineyards and olive plantations, spas and ski resorts – this is mini Europe on a platter – there is something for everyone in Slovenia.

Trip Highlights

Explore the 20-km long Postojna cave system, which boasts of an underground train and concert hall with a capacity of 10,000 people, with regular orchestras and music performances in the summer

Drive through the Triglav National Park – a mini Switzerland – with rolling hills, picturesque villages on their slopes, backdrops of snow-clad Alpine peaks that have given birth to numerous hiking trails and several ski resorts

Spend a day in Bled – hike up the Bled castle, or take a boat ride to the Bled cathedral, or simply relax in one of the numerous lakeside cafes, enjoying the famous “Kremna rezina” – a vanilla custard cream pastry popular throughout central Europe

Walk along the cobblestoned streets of Ljubljana - a contemporary city with a medieval heart, one can say, where the Roman-era city-centre is surrounded by the most chic bars, music halls and restaurants

On the way to the coast, stop by at one of the numerous vineyards or olive plantations – the Mediterranean soil grows some phenomenal olives and grapes and the resulting olive oil and wine tasting opportunities are a favorite among those with gastronomic interest

When to Travel – Slovenia is best visited in the Summer when the days are long and temperatures are warm. Bled, Bohinj and the Alpine villages are cool year-round. We recommend visiting Slovenia from May-October
