Road Trip Through Serbia

Let’s be frank – Serbia is truly for those who seek to get off the beaten track, who crave adventures and who are willing to forego a bit of luxury. If you are ready, then Serbia’s wild, and largely unexplored beauty will offer you the thrill of a lifetime. Dizzying canyons, verdant forests, crystal lakes and postcard perfect villages which hide secluded monasteries, vineyards and outstanding restaurants – no matter what your craving, you will find it here.

Trip Highlights

  • Start your journey in historic Belgrade – while not a traditionally pretty European city, it has it’s own vibe and culture, and not to mention tremendous history – the influence of Ottoman as well as Austro-Hungarian empires, followed by integration with Yugoslavia and then union with Montenegro and eventually independece – this city has seen it all.
  • Head East to see the magnificent Golubac Fortress – the 14th century Ottoman fortress
  • Continue on to Lepenski Vir- often called the “first city in Europe” – archeological findings showed that humans have been at this site since 8,000 BC
  • Take a day trip to the sleepy wine town of Sremski Karlovci and further to Novi Sad- Serbia’s second city and a hub of art, music and culture.
  • Head south to the Uvac River as it cuts one of the most enchanting canyons in its path – the Uvac canyon – home to incredible flora & fauna, high cliffs with stunning views of the meandering river
  • Visit Crna Reka- one of Serbia’s numerous orthodox monasteries – built right into the caves of a steep cliff deep in southwestern Serbia, overlooking the gorges of Ibar Kolašin on the Crna River
  • Check out the unique rock formations at Đavolja Varoš – also known as Devil’s town. Local legend says the rocks are members of a wedding party petrified by the devil
